Become a RAIHN
Volunteer:
Our network has been successful over the 5 years we have been open
largely due to the amazing efforts of our 1600+ trained volunteers. Whether it is in preparing meals, or driving
our families to and from the Host locations, there are up to 90 people per week, working behind the scenes to
care for the guest families in our program.
In order to be sensitive and considerate to the families’ situation, we
offer a 2 hour training before volunteers are utilized in any capacity that involves interaction with, and
direct care of our guest families.
This 2 hour training is given 6 times/year, usually by our Network
Director or a trained Board Member. Topics covered in the
training are:
- What RAIHN is, how it works
- Why there is a need for RAIHN (Community overview/scope of
homelessness)
- Who are the families we serve
- Sensitivity and Confidentiality concerns
- Hosting the families, what you need to know
- Meet the Guests: A video training segment with Guests’
perspective
